Historical Overview of Measure Q

In 2012, the Solano Community College District Board of Trustees placed Measure Q—the Student/Veterans’ Affordable Education, Job Training, and Classroom Repair Measure—on the November ballot following an extensive public input process involving more than 1,000 community members.

Voters approved Measure Q, authorizing the District to continue the facilities improvements and program expansions that began under Measure G. The bond measure was designed to modernize classrooms, upgrade technology, and support programs for students, including active military and veterans.

Measure Q also provided funding for new initiatives such as a Middle College program, which allows high school students to earn associate degrees, and the infrastructure necessary to expand university partnership programs with institutions including California State University Maritime Academy, Sonoma State University, and the University of California. These efforts created new opportunities for students to complete degrees while remaining in Solano County.

Since its passage, Measure Q has been an important tool in advancing educational access, workforce training, and long-term facilities planning across the District.
