Project Prioritization at Solano College

Open Call for Spring 2026 Project Proposals begins February 2, 2026

The Technology Services Department has established the Enterprise Project Information Center (EPIC) to provide a structured and transparent process for managing the influx of technology project requests at Solano Community College (SCC). The EPIC intake process is designed to guide stakeholders through identifying the key elements needed for successful project delivery, including strategic alignment, funding requirements, resource needs, risks, and timing considerations. All project proposals will be reviewed by Technology Services and appropriate governance groups (STAC and Cabinet). Once approved and prioritized, projects will be scheduled for implementation in alignment with SCC’s institutional goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

A project is a temporary endeavor with a defined beginning, end, scope, and deliverables, often requiring cross-functional collaboration and planning. Helpdesk requests address routine or operational issues, such as troubleshooting, software installation, or minor updates.

Submit a proposal if your effort involves 20+ IT hours, a defined scope and timeline, creation of a distinct product or service, and cross-functional collaboration. Examples include ERP upgrades, compliance initiatives, IT infrastructure improvements, system integrations, enterprise software upgrades, and large-scale security rollouts.

For quick tasks that take less than 20 hours, please submit a Helpdesk request. This includes things like password resets, installing standard software, minor Argos report tweaks (such as adding or adjusting a field or filter), or simple system configuration changes that don’t require design, integration, or formal testing.

Projects are scheduled based on their overall score and ranking, along with available resources and funding. High-scoring projects may be delayed if resources or budget are limited, while lower-scoring projects can start sooner if they have the necessary support. Scheduling is reviewed regularly to reflect changes in priorities, capacity, and funding.

By submitting a project proposal, the requester confirms they have obtained permission from their Dean, Director, or VP. This ensures the project has appropriate leadership support and resource authorization before entering the EPIC review process.

EPIC operates on a semester-based schedule:
