Fairfield, CA – Solano Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter has earned national recognition for its groundbreaking project, “Opioid Overdose and Prevention: Student-Led Narcan Distribution.” The initiative has been selected as one of just 15 articles featured in the fifth edition of Change Makers: Phi Theta Kappa Journal of Student Leadership, published August 11, 2025.
Chosen from more than 450 submissions worldwide, the SCC project is highlighted as the first article in the issue, underscoring the importance of student-driven leadership in addressing critical public health challenges.
About the Project
The “Opioid Overdose and Prevention” initiative focused on empowering students to take an active role in combating the opioid crisis by distributing Narcan and educating peers on overdose prevention. This effort not only promoted health and safety on campus but also demonstrated the profound impact of student leadership in tackling real-world issues.
