Solano Community College (SCC) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Trustee Amanda Lopez-Lara for her dedicated service to the college and the communities of Winters, Dixon, and parts of Vacaville. Trustee Lopez-Lara, who was appointed to represent Area 7 in 2022, will conclude her tenure this month, leaving behind a legacy of commitment to student success, equitable access, and academic excellence.
During her time on the SCC Governing Board, Trustee Lopez-Lara brought valuable expertise and a deep understanding of the unique needs of the communities she represented. As an advocate for higher education, agriculture, and first-generation college students, her contributions helped ensure Solano Community College remained a place of opportunity, empowerment, and academic distinction for all.
“Trustee Lopez-Lara’s commitment to our students and the communities we serve has
been greatly appreciated,” said Dr. Kellie Sims Butler, Superintendent-President of
Solano Community College. “We thank her for her service and contributions to the college.”
Trustee Lopez-Lara's leadership has been instrumental in advancing the college's mission of fostering academic excellence and preparing students for success beyond the classroom. Her dedication to the Latino community, coupled with her strong background in finance and higher education, has made a lasting impact on the institution.
As Trustee Lopez-Lara steps down, SCC is pleased to announce that the Area 7 seat
will now be filled by incoming Trustee Jacqui Nguyen, who will be sworn into her position
at the December 18, 2024, Governing Board meeting.
The SCC community expresses its deepest appreciation to Trustee Lopez-Lara for her invaluable service and warmly welcomes Trustee Nguyen as she begins her term.
