Dr. Alison Bolton, PhD, Professional Biography Educator | Business Executive | Technology Professional | Organizational Leader. Dr. Alison Bolton is an adjunct professor at Solano Community College (SCC), bringing more than four decades of diverse professional experience in business management, law, information technology, cybersecurity, nonprofit leadership, government finance, and education. Her extensive background provides students with practical, real-world perspectives on business and organizational leadership. Dr. Bolton's professional career includes 23 years as a paralegal, two years as Director of Membership at the Oakland Zoo, and over twenty years serving on numerous nonprofit Boards of Directors. She also worked as an environmental geologist and owned an information technology business for more than 24 years, specializing in network engineering, systems analysis, digital forensics, and cybersecurity. She holds the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) credential and served in multiple leadership positions with the Sacramento Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) for more than 14 years. She is also a patented inventor of an ergonomic computer tool. Her career in education began in 2006, following her recovery from cancer. After earning her teaching credential, she taught middle school science before completing her Master of Business Administration (MBA). She subsequently worked as a Budget Analyst at Yountville for the California Department of Veterans Affairs, gaining experience managing a $4.86 million budget. In 2013, Dr. Bolton began teaching information technology at ITT Technical Institute. She joined Solano Community College in January 2014 and has since taught business and management courses both online and in person, including Introduction to Business, Business Communications, Principles of Management, Leadership Skills, Human Resource Management, and Business Law. In 2024, she earned her Doctorate in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. Beyond her academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Bolton has more than 20 years of experience in theater and independent filmmaking as an actress, singer, producer, and cinematographer. She contributed to numerous films, including five distributed through Amazon Prime, Tubi, Walmart, and other entertainment platforms. She also enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Dr. Bolton believes that education is a lifelong investment that creates opportunities, empowers individuals, and prepares future generations for success.
