The Sports Medicine Program at Solano Community College combines strong academic foundations in the sciences with hands-on laboratory experience to prepare students for careers in kinesiology, health science, and related fields.

The Sports Medicine program at Solano Community College provides students with a strong academic foundation in science alongside practical, hands-on laboratory experience. Students explore the principles of kinesiology, health science, injury prevention, and rehabilitation while engaging in coursework that emphasizes creative, critical, and analytical thinking.

The program is designed to broaden students’ knowledge of the human body and movement, strengthen their commitment to careers in health and fitness, and prepare them for continued study and professional development in fields such as athletic training, physical therapy, and exercise science.

  • Associate in Science in Sports Medicine

    – Provides students with a strong academic and practical foundation in kinesiology, health science, and sports medicine. Designed for those pursuing careers in athletic training, physical therapy, exercise science, or related health professions.

  • Certificate of Achievement in Sports Medicine

    – Focused coursework in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and applied kinesiology to prepare students for entry-level opportunities or further study in the field.

  • Athletic Trainer – Prevent, diagnose, and treat sports-related injuries.

  • Physical Therapist (with advanced degree) – Help patients recover movement and manage pain.

  • Exercise Physiologist – Design and evaluate fitness and rehabilitation programs.

  • Sports Medicine Technician – Assist professionals in clinics, rehabilitation centers, and athletic programs.

  • Strength & Conditioning Coach – Develop training programs to improve athletic performance.

  • Occupational Therapy Assistant – Support patients in regaining daily living and work skills.

  • Rehabilitation Aide – Work alongside therapists in injury recovery and patient care.
