Social Justice 

The Solano Community College Social Justice Studies & Ethnic Studies program empowers students to become changemakers by examining issues of equity, inclusion, and power across diverse communities.

Through interdisciplinary coursework in psychology, sociology, history, political science, art, and more, students gain the critical thinking skills and cultural understanding needed to lead with purpose and create meaningful change in society.

The Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies for Transfer at Solano Community College equips students with the knowledge and skills to address issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion in both local and global contexts. With an emphasis on Ethnic Studies and Gender and Sexuality Studies, students critically explore the experiences of diverse communities and the dynamics of power and inequality.

This interdisciplinary program draws from Psychology, Sociology, History, Political Science, English, Communications, Art, and more, giving students a broad foundation in both theory and practice. Through coursework that emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and social inquiry, students learn to analyze historical and current examples of activism and change. The program provides strong academic preparation for transfer to a four-year university, while also cultivating lifelong awareness, engagement, and leadership skills for careers centered on building a more just society.

  • Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies for Transfer (AA-T) – designed for students planning to transfer to a California State University (CSU) and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Social Justice Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, or related fields.
