The Psychology program at Solano Community College introduces students to psychology as the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes.

The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, skeptical inquiry, and the use of the scientific method to explore major psychological theories, research methods, and applications. Students will also study how psychology applies to personal growth, social relationships, and organizational settings, providing a well-rounded foundation for further study or career pathways in the field.

  • Associate in Arts in Psychology for Transfer (AA‑T)

    Designed for students planning to complete a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at a California State University (CSU) campus, this degree ensures priority admission to the CSU system with junior standing—though not to a specific campus or major. Requirements include completing 60 transferable semester units, which must include General Education (CSU GE or IGETC) and a minimum of 18 semester units in psychology coursework. A grade of C or better is required in all major courses.

     

  • Associate in Arts in Psychology (AA)

    A general associate degree requiring completion of the 22-unit psychology major, general education, and electives as needed to reach a minimum of 60 units. All major courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or a P if taken pass/no pass.

  • Teacher’s Aide / Paraprofessional

    Support classroom instruction and child development in school settings.

     

  • Home Care Aide / Healthcare Support Worker

    Assist patients with daily activities and provide compassionate care in home or clinical environments.

     

  • Family Advocate

    Work with families to coordinate services and promote child well-being.

     

  • Social or Human Services Assistant

    Help clients access necessary resources and services in community organizations or agencies.

     

  • Youth Counselor

    Provide support and guidance to adolescents facing behavioral or emotional challenges.

     

  • Research Assistant

    Assist with data collection, analysis, and administration in academic or clinical research settings.

     

  • Addiction Rehabilitation Assistant / Psychiatric Technician

    Support mental health professionals in rehabilitation or psychiatric care environments.

     

  • Community Health Worker

    Liaise between community members and health services, often focusing on underserved populations.

     

  • Administrative Assistant (e.g., in HR or nonprofit)

    Employ psychology-informed communication and organizational skills in office or support roles.
