The Solano Community College Associate in Science in Nutrition and Food Science (for Transfer) is designed to prepare students for seamless transfer into the CSU system to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree.

This program equips students with a strong foundation in nutrition, food science, and the biomedical sciences, while also exploring the behavioral aspects of food choices. The Associate in Science in Nutrition and Food Science for Transfer degree at Solano Community College is designed to meet CSU general education requirements and provide a seamless pathway toward a Bachelor of Science degree. This program builds a strong foundation in food and nutrition sciences, human behavior, and biomedical sciences.

 

Students gain the knowledge and skills to design, implement, and manage effective nutrition programs while learning how food supports human growth and development. Coursework prepares graduates to apply these principles across diverse settings, including healthcare organizations, food service operations, business and industry, education and research, health promotion programs, and private practice counseling.

  • Associate in Science in Nutrition for Transfer (AS-T in Nutrition)

    This transfer-focused degree is tailored for students planning to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science at a CSU campus. It aligns with CSU general education requirements and provides guaranteed admission into the CSU system with junior standing—though not to a specific campus or major. To earn the degree, students must complete 60 transferable semester units, including 18 major units in nutrition, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 with a grade of C or better.

  • No Certificate of Achievement specifically in Nutrition is currently offered at Solano.

    Oversee food service programs in institutions like hospitals, schools, or hospitality venues.

     

  • Product Developer / Research & QA Technician in Food Industry

    Contribute to product formulation, quality control, and R&D in food manufacturing.

     

  • Sensory Scientist / Food Safety Specialist

    Conduct sensory analysis and ensure product safety and compliance.

     

  • Sales Representative / Nutrition Industry Consultant
