The Solano Community College Elementary Teacher Education program provides a strong liberal studies foundation for students preparing to teach in elementary schools.

Coursework is designed to meet the introductory subject matter requirements needed for future teachers.

The Elementary Teacher Education degree at Solano Community College offers students a comprehensive foundation in liberal studies with a focus on preparing future educators. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to meet lower-division requirements for transfer to a four-year institution, where they can pursue a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential. Through coursework in core academic subjects and introductory education, students gain the tools necessary to succeed in teacher preparation programs and begin their journey toward becoming effective elementary school educators.

  • Associate in Arts in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer (AA-T)

    • Prepares students for seamless transfer to a California State University (CSU).

    • Provides a foundation for pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies or a related field.

    • Meets lower-division requirements for entry into teacher credential programs.

  • Elementary School Teacher (with completion of a bachelor’s degree and credential program)

  • Paraeducator / Teacher’s Aide

  • After-School Program Coordinator

  • Child Development Specialist

  • Education Program Assistant

  • Pathway to Middle or High School Teaching (with further specialization and credentials)
