The following positions are on the ballot this May 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th.

President and Vice-President - They run as members of a ticket; The President presides over Student Senate meetings; meets regularly with the Superintendent/President, proposes the ASSC Budget, etc. The Vice-President assists with these duties and also chairs the ICC (Inter-Club Council).

Student Trustee - (A paid position) The Trustee is an employee of the District and acts as the “advisory” vote of the students as a member of the Governing Board.

Legislative Advocate - Represents the College at national, state-wide and regional student meetings; serves as the Chairperson of the Political Activities Committee; reports to the ASSC on federal and state legislative affairs affecting students and the college.

The Associated Students of Solano College (ASSC) is the official government of the student body of Solano Community College. The ASSC has a large annual budget, and with this budget, supports and provides many of the programs, activities and services available to SCC students. The ASSC also acts as the voice of the students, representing them on campus committees and at regional and statewide meetings of the state’s association of community college student government.

If you are interested in serving, or just want more information about your student government, please plan to attend the meetings which are held every Tuesday in the 1400 building "fishbowl" from 12:30 - 2:20 pm. If you are also interested in learning about “how” government works, parliamentary procedure, the importance of “notice”, check out the one-unit Poli Sci 050 as it is held during the weekly ASSC meetings!


Important Dates for Spring Elections
If you are interested in running please declare your candidacy by April 19th 2019. You can pick up a candidate application in the ASSC Workroom (Room 1406), the Student Life Office (Room 1425) or download here, ASSC Declaration of Candidacy Packet.

April 1 - 19 Declaration of Candidacy Period (April 19 by 3:00 pm)
April 19 Last Day to Declare Candidacy by 3:00 pm
April 22 Mandatory Pre-Election Candidates Meeting (all candidates) - 3 pm ASSC Workroom (Room 1406)
April 24 Candidate Document Submission 3:00 pm
April 22 - May 3 Campaign Period
May 1 First Mandatory Candidates Assembly (9:00 - 11:00 am)
May 2 Second Mandatory Candidates Assembly (11:00 am - 1:00 pm)
May 6 - 9 Election Week
May 10 Ballot Count will be held in the Fishbowl at 3:30 pm
May 14 Run-Off OR Ratification of Election Results by the ASSC Senate
May 15 Presentation of Results to SCCD Governing Board

*Dates, times, and locations are subject to change either by action of the ASSC Senate or the ASSC Election Committee. It is the responsibility of the candidates to attend all mandatory meetings and assemblies.
