Fall 2020 Elections - Due to the campus closure, the spring elections have been moved to the upcoming fall semester

The following positions are on the ballot this August 31, September 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

President and Vice-President - They run as members of a ticket; The President presides over Student Senate meetings; meets regularly with the Superintendent/President, proposes the ASSC Budget, etc. The Vice-President assists with these duties and also chairs the ICC (Inter-Club Council).

Student Trustee - (A paid position) The Trustee is an employee of the District and acts as the “advisory” vote of the students as a member of the Governing Board.

Legislative Advocate - Represents the College at national, state-wide and regional student meetings; serves as the Chairperson of the Political Activities Committee; reports to the ASSC on federal and state legislative affairs affecting students and the college.

The Associated Students of Solano College (ASSC) is the official government of the student body of Solano Community College. The ASSC has a large annual budget, and with this budget, supports and provides many of the programs, activities and services available to SCC students. The ASSC also acts as the voice of the students, representing them on campus committees and at regional and statewide meetings of the state’s association of community college student government.

If you are interested in serving, or just want more information about your student government, please plan to attend the virtual meetings which will be held on Tuesdays from 3-5 p.m. A meeting ID number will be posted in the very near future.


Important Dates for Fall Elections

Fall Classes begin 8/17/20
8/27/20, 12 Noon Last Day to Declare Candidacy (deadline)
Candidate Document Submission Deadline
8/28/2020, 1:30 pm Select Interim Committee Approval of Candidates. Create and approve election ballot.
8/28/2020, 3:30 pm Mandatory Pre-Election Candidate's Meeting (all candidates)

Candidates to create campaign statements/flyer to be posted on SCC website/Canvas
8/31 to 9/11/2020 Campaign Period
9/9/2020 First Mandatory Candidates Assembly (Zoom) 9:00 - 11:00 am
09/10/2020 Second Mandatory Candidates Assembly (Zoom) 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
9/14 to 9/17/2020 Election Week (Voting) Student ID#’s used as passwords.
9/18/2020 Ballot Count (via the Platform)
9/22/2020 Run Off OR Ratification of results by the SIC
10/7/2020 Presentation of Results to SCCD Governing Board

All activities will take place via Zoom. Meeting ID numbers will be shared with ALL ENROLLED STUDENTS.
It is the responsibility of the candidates to attend all mandatory meetings and assemblies.
