Student Center Fee

In the Fall 1998, the students of Solano Community College overwhelmingly voted for a student center fee to upgrade the Student Center, Building 1400. Education Code 76375 authorizes districts to establish an annual building and operating fee for the purpose of financing, constructing, enlarging, remodeling, refurbishing, and operating a student body center.

In January 2009, a remodel project will be completed that includes the enlargement of the Student Health Center, Bookstore, Cafeteria Dining Area, the ASSC Student Government Office, and ASSC Conference Room, and the addition of a Club Workroom, Study Lounge/Computer Room, and Faculty Dining Room Annex.

The student center fee is required of all students attending classes on the Fairfield main campus. The fee cannot exceed $1 per credit hour, up to a maximum of $10 per student per fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Non-credit enrollees cannot be required to pay the fee, nor can recipients of CalWORKS, SSI/SSP, or general assistance.

A fee waiver will be granted to eligible students who apply at the Financial Aid Office, Room 162, Library Building, before registering for classes. A student must provide written proof that the student is a recipient of CalWORKS, SSI/SSP, or general assistance.

The Board of Governors has adopted regulations to implement this fee under Section 58510 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.
