What We Offer

The library offers a variety of instruction opportunities including:

  • a series of library research skills workshops, designed to improve students' competence in basic library and research skills
  • one-time library orientations, tailored to a specific course's assignment
  • a semester-long credit course (LR10) covering various research skills & information competency

Information Competency at Solano College is defined as the ability to find, evaluate, use, and communicate information in all its various formats. It combines aspects of library literacy, research methods and technological literacy.

Information Competency includes consideration of the ethical and legal implications of information and requires the application of both critical thinking and communication skills.
