Ways to Talk with a Counselor during COVID 19 Physical Distancing Protocols

Counseling Services is moving to phone and Zoom (video) only appointments beginning Mar. 23 until an unknown date, to implement physical distancing while the Coronavirus is prevalent. We will re-evaluate the local public health situation and guidelines by the State to determine when in-person appointments can continue.

Just have a quick question such as needing  a copy of your education plan, clearing a pre-requisite for a course or clearing a registration error? No appointment needed! Please reach out through:  phone (707) 864-7101, email counseling@solano.edu (please include your name, Solano student ID#, and phone number) or during Express chat times  Please note, due to COVID 19 work from home guidelins and busy registraiton season,  response time for email and phone is around 2 business days.

To Schedule an Appointment:

Please call our front desk, go to the online booking system  or call us at 707-864-7101 or to schedule a 30 min or 60 min:  

  • Phone Appointment - the Counselor will call your at your designated counseling appointment time. The number may show as "blocked or restricted". Please be sure to pick up the call and unblock any apps that may restrict these types of call.
  • Zoom Appointment - this is a video meeting (very easy, just like facetime) with a Counselor. The benefit of this meeting is the counselor can share their screen to show you more information and review documents in greater detail.  Try it out!  Here's some tips to help.

30 min appointments are for:

  • one semester education plans with less than 20 units and no transcripts from other schools
  • general transfer questions, major/career discussions

60 min appointments are for:

  • degree/transcript review for graduation or transferring; transfer application assistance
  • multiple semester course plans (comprehensive education plans)
  • review of more than 20 units on transcripts from other schools
  • financial aid application forms which require comprehensive education plan

  • Online Appointment Booking System: Go HERE to use the online appointment booking system to schedule your phone or zoom appointment with a counselor
  • Online Express Chat: Monday - Friday 10:30 am - 1:00 pm, Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Ways to Talk with a Counselor

In-Person(temporarily suspended)/Phone Appointments - These are 30 or 60 minutes private individual meetings with counselors. Individual appointments may book out weeks in advance. please plan ahead. 

  • If you are on Probation II or Academic Dismissal, you will see a TAP (Targeted Academic Persistence) Counselor, please call 707 864-7000 ext. 4752, email tap@solano.edu, or go to Bld. 400, rm. 429 (main campus)

30 min appointments are for:

60 min appointments are for:

Video (Zoom) Appointments - If you are unable to physically come to campus for an appointment, video appointments are available with our Counselors in Fairfield. 

  • These one hour appointments can cover any information covered in a face-to-face appointment. 
  • Students must have access to a reliable mobile device or computer (if wanting to view or share transcripts or other documents) with webcam and audio capability. 
  • To schedule, please call the Counseling front desk in Fairfield, 707-864-7101 and request a "video appointment" or "zoom appointment".  Further instructions will then be emailed after the appointment is scheduled.

Express Counseling (temporarily phone/email only - Zoom Express coming soon) - Quick questions answered by a Counselor at our Fairfield counseling front desk. 
Pre-requisite clearances, questions on course substitutions, petition signatures, or other short questions are appropriate for Express.  Full semester education plans or transcript reviews are not able to be done through the Express time, please schedule an appointment.
Express Counseling hours are: M-F 10:30 am - 1:00 pm; M-Th 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  • Stop by in Person (Fairfield Main Campus, Vallejo Center or Vacaville Center)
  • Online Appointment Booking System - 30 minute in-person appointments only
  • Please make sure to ask for appropriate appointment length when calling. Appointment are usually not available the same day, they are scheduled for the future and can fill 1-2 weeks in advance, especially in summer or around registration times, so please plan ahead. If you are 10 minutes late (or 20 min. for a 60 min appointment) your appointment may be given away to another student and you will need to reschedule.
