Automotive Technician A.S. Degree

You can receive an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree by completing 66 units which includes 45 automotive program units and 21 general education requirement units. All program units must be completed with a minimum grade of C, or a P if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis.

The suggested course sequence below is based upon a full-time student course load for automotive courses only. You will still need to schedule required general education courses. If you plan to attend part-time, consult your counselor or faculty member for a suggested course sequence.

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSIONS & TRANSAXLES CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

For SCC’s Transmissions & Transaxles certificate program, you must complete 17 units with a minimum grade of C, or a P if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis.

The suggested course sequence below is slightly flexible. You must take ATEC 070 – Automotive Fundamentals and ATEC 131 – Automotive Electrical Systems your first semester, as they are both a prerequisite for ATEC 138 – Automotive Electronics in the second semester. The other two classes can be taken either semester.

We encourage you to consult with a Solano counselor or automotive program faculty member to create a complete education plan.

For SCC’s Electrical & Body Systems certificate program, you must complete 17 units with a minimum grade of C, or a P if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis.

The suggested course sequence below is slightly flexible. You must take ATEC 070 – Automotive Fundamentals and ATEC 131 – Automotive Electrical Systems your first semester, as they are both a prerequisite for ATEC 138 – Automotive Electronics in the second semester. The other two classes can be taken either semester.
