Crosslisted (C/L) Sections

"C/L" refers to cross-listed sections. Typically, cross-listed sections are different levels of instruction such as beginning, intermediate, or advanced in a shared classroom with the same instructor. Cross listed sections are separate CRN's linked together in a group and assigned to the same date, time, room, and instructor with a combined capacity. An example of cross-listed courses is one classroom where Math 007-Prealgebra, Math 123-Elementary Algebra, and Math 127-Intermediate Algebra meet but each course has a separate CRN with a combined capacity of 30 seats.

The capacity number for a specific CRN in a cross-list group may have a restricted limit, such as only 5 seats assigned though the overall cross-list group capacity is 30 seats. The "Available" column will indicate the number of available seats for each CRN and the "Overall Crosslist Seating" indicates how many seats are available in relation to the overall capacity set for the cross-listed group.

Course Description - Corequisites, Prerequisites & Advisories

  • Corequisites are a course or courses that a student must enroll in at the same time as, or in some cases may complete prior to enrolling in, the desired course. Successful completion of a corequisite is achieved by earning a final grade of a "C" or higher.

  • Prerequisites are a course or courses that a student must complete before enrolling in the more advanced course. Successful completion of a prerequisite is achieved by earning a final grade of a "C" or higher. Equivalent skills or prior experience that a student possesses may also be accepted as a prerequisite for a course.

  • Advisories are recommendations advising students to the minimum standards necessary for class success.

For some courses such as in Allied Health, a prerequisite may have additional requirements other than course completion. Certain programs (Nursing, Licensed Vocation Nursing, Psychiatric Technician) require admittance to a special program or a current CPR card that requires student clearance prior to enrollment.

For more information on prerequisite clearance prior to enrollment, please visit the Prerequisites page.
