Room Reservations

The Solano College Library Research Instruction Room (Bib Lab) is primarily used for library research instruction and ASTC workshops. When not utilized for its primary purpose, the room may be reserved by current SCC students, faculty and staff. Room reservation is subject to approval. Food, Drink, & Cell Phone Use

Food and beverages are not allowed in the library. Please leave these items at the Circulation counter when you enter the Library. Cell phone use is not permitted. Please turn your ringer off and step out of the library to take or place a call.


Materials circulate only to patrons with a SCC, Napa Valley College, or Napa County library card. Books may be checked out for a four-week period and may be renewed twice if no holds exist.


Reserve materials are books, text books, pamphlets, and any other items individual instructors may have put on reserve for their students. Reserves are located behind the Circulation desk. Videotapes circulate only to SCC faculty. To check out a reserve item, students must present a SNAP library card and either:

» A current SCC ID or
» Proof of enrollment from the SCC Registrar and a picture ID

Abuse of textbook-reserve check out periods may result in (up to a) non-refundable $300 fine and suspension of borrowing privileges.
Back-to-back checkout periods are not permitted.


Fines for overdue books are 20 cents per item per day. Fines for overdue reserves vary by material type: from 25 cents to $5.00 per item per day.Abuse of textbook-reserve check out periods may result in (up to a) non-refundable $300 fine and suspension of borrowing privileges. Fines may be payed at the Circulation Desk, by cash or check only.

Borrowing via Link+ is free, but the fines associated with late/damaged items are different from the fine structure noted above.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan service, a system of borrowing and lending resources between libraries, is available to faculty, staff, and students. In most cases, the service is free.

Vertical File

The vertical file is comprised of pamphlets, brochures, newspaper clippings, and other ephemeral print items. Up to five items may be checked out at one time; two renewals are allowed.
